Duson man dies from hit and run crash

Update: Victim Dies from Injuries

On November 29, 2009, the victim of the early morning crash died at a local hospital as a result of the injuries received. The victim is identified as Michael Saucier (51) of Duson. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS. The crash remains under investigation.

Hit and Run Leaves Duson Man in Critical Condition

On November 29, 2009, at approximately 12:05 am, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 4800 block of West Congress Street regarding a crash involving a bicyclist. The victim, a 51 year old male of Duson, was traveling on the shoulder of the 4800 block of West Congress Street, when a vehicle traveling the same direction struck him. The victim was ejected from his bicycle and struck a wooden utility pole. The suspect vehicle fled the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.
