DERIDDER, La. (AP) - State police say a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 171 south of DeRidder in Beauregard Parish has claimed the life of a Dry Creek man.
Troopers say a pickup driven by 42-year-old Martin Loren Snyder of DeRidder ran off the road and hit a concrete culvert Monday night. Snyder sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
Investigators say a passenger in Snyder's vehicle, 59-year-old James M. Jackson, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. Jackson was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Snyder was booked into the Beauregard Parish Jail on charges of vehicular homicide, DWI-second offense, open container, careless operation, and no seat belt.
