The biggest drug roundup in St. Landry Parish since last year was conducted yesterday.

What does it take to get the drug violators behind bars?

The deputies and the narcotics division of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Department worked and planned for months. Law enforcement agencies cannot do any of this without proper information.

"We get calls all the time, people complaining their neighbors are selling drugs, and you can't just go make an arrest, you have to make the case, be able to substantiate the arrest you're going to make," says Jimmy Darbonne of the Sheriff's Department.

They have been conducting research, working with the communities, and using undercover operations to find the drug violators.

Their hard work is paying off, with arrests being down from the last roundup, Operation Falcon.

"We were able to reduce our numbers by reducing non-violent offenders and getting the District Attorney's on board with us," says Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
