The driver of a car that flipped on I-49 in Opelousas Monday has been arrested on vehicular homicide charges. Police say 40-year-old Samuel Gary was behind the wheel when his car hit another and flipped. Police say Gary's girlfriend, Detricka Benjamin, was in the car and later died at a local hospital of her injuries. Gary is also charged with careless operation and having no driver's license. Toxicology results are pending and could lead to further charges.
