Driver charged in fatal US 90 crash that killed two Iberia Parish workers

The 26-year-old woman whose 2006 Mitsubishi Galant struck the Iberia Parish Government truck that killed two Iberia Parish employees Tuesday has been arrested.

According to State Police, Alicia Mire of New Iberia has been arrested on two counts of negligent homicide, negligent injuring, reckless operation and no driver's license.

Mire, who is still in the hospital due to injuries she sustained in the crash, will be booked into the Iberia Parish Jail after her release from the hospital.

Tuesday's crash on U.S. 90 South Service Road happened when Mire's vehicle drifted onto the road's shoulder and eventually struck the rear of an Iberia Parish Government pickup truck that was parked on the shoulder with its emergency lights flashing.

The pickup truck struck and killed two parish employees, 48-year-old Ross Migues of Lydia and 57-year old Jody Anthony of St. Martinville. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Mire and her passenger were restrained when the crash occurred and transported to local hospitals with moderate injuries. Routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

State Police say the crash remains under investigation.
