If you were watching the telethon today, you heard the name "Brenda Johnson", who bought the winning ticket in honor of her late husband. Brenda says she believes her husband may have played a part in her win. "My husband had a warm place in his heart for the the children of St. Jude. he had lukiema. He passed away from lukiema. So I wanted to give back, because I wanted the research to continue going."
After going on a tour of the house Saturday, she was sure this house was meant for her...even going so far as to claim each and every room as her own while others were still touring it. When she walked into one of the bathrooms, "there was a gentleman in the bedroom and I told him this is my bedroom, please leave. I claimed the whole house."
Johnson says the key to her success was 'how' she claimed each room. As she went room to room she says, "each time I went through each room I touched everything, I prayed. I said "Lord, I want this. Bless me." and he did."
So the big question is---will she keep the home or sell it?
For now, Brenda's letting it all sink in...
She, along with countless St. Jude patients today, came away winners.
