The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has initiated a drawdown on Clear-Smithport Lake in Desoto Parish to control nuisance aquatic vegetation.
State officials said Wednesday that biologists will also use the low water period to assess the lake bottom and make restoration recommendations regarding fisheries habitat.
A gate closure date will be determined by department staff following vegetation surveys and habitat assessments.
More information about the drawdown is available from biologist Ricky Yeldell at 337-286-5940 or email@example.com.
