Double Fatal Crash in Broussard

A major vehicle crash at the intersection of Ambassador Caffery Pkwy and US Hwy 90 took the lives of 2 people late last night.
The accident happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday night, when Heather Covington, 36, neglected a red light at a traffic signal, and collided with a 2006 Dodge Pickup. Both Covington, the driver, and Terry Richard, 51, the passenger, died on the scene. The driver and passenger of the pick up truck had minor to little injuries.
Broussard Police Department investigators say all parties involved in the accident were wearing seat belts. It is currently unknown if alcohol was a factor.
