Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a three vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on LA 182 at St. Ann Road that claimed the lives of two people.
According to investigating troopers, on October 9, 2010, shortly after 9:30 p.m., 32-year-old Anthony Taylor of Arnaudville, LA, was driving a 2008 Ford truck south on LA 182 preparing to turn left onto St. Ann Road. A 2004 Nissan truck, driven by 58-year-old Daniel Cormier of Church Point, LA, was traveling behind Taylor. A 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 25-year-old Roderick Richard Jr. of Sunset, LA, was turning onto LA 182 from St. Ann Road.
As Richard was making his turn, Taylor crossed the center line causing Richard to hit Taylor's vehicle. After impact, both Richard and his passenger, 25-year-old Amber Richard of Sunset, LA, were ejected from the motorcycle. Both Roderick Richard and Amber Richard came to rest in the roadway. Cormier's vehicle struck Amber Richard in the southbound lane.
Roderick and Amber Richard were pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner. Neither Taylor nor Cormier were injured in the crash. Toxicology samples were taken from all three drivers. The results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation.
