NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is turning $7.5 million in unclaimed Crescent City Connection tolls and toll tag payments over to the state Treasury as unclaimed property.
Spokeswoman Bambi Hall says DOTD has sent $520,000 in refund checks to people who applied by the June 13 deadline.
The rest is being transferred under a state law signed last week.
It covers toll tag deposits and balances and tolls paid between Jan. 1 and March 5 - the day after voters ended the tolls.
Hall says the treasury should have records needed to process claims by the end of business July 1.
To apply for unclaimed tolls, call 888-925-4127 or go to the Treasury Department's website after July 1.
