Dog Shot After Biting Deputy

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - A narcotics agent with the Lafourche
Parish Sheriff's Office shot a pit bull dog in the head after the
dog bit him in the leg.
Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lesley Hill Peters says it happened
Thursday afternoon. The agent had gone to a residence in Larose to
serve a man with papers dealing with plans to seize alleged drug
money.
Peters said that 17-year-old
Albert Bell of Larose was given citations for allowing the animal
to roam and not having it vaccinated. The dog was taken to an
animal hospital for treatment.
The agent's bite wound was not considered serious. The Lafourche
sheriff's Internal Affairs division will review the incident, as it
does anytime a deputy's weapon is fired.
