An Abbeville woman, who is Regional Coordinator for the Louisiana Department of Education, found herself behind bars Friday for alleged aggravated burglary, simple battery, and simple criminal damage to property.
According to a Lafayette Police Department report, Stephanie Funderburk,62, was taken into custody after Funderburk allegedly "entered the victims home by breaking the glass of the side door" and "grabbed the knife and search for the complainant the defendant then damage several items in the home with a total value of $5,000."
Officers responded to the call of a burglary in progress, but the incident, according to Funderburk's booking sheet, did not begin at the complainant's home.
Deputies reported that "just prior to the incident, a defendant / victim were involved in a physical altercation while traveling on Johnston Street in a vehicle," when "the defendant did the victim on the upper left arm the victim had an injury to his arm."
Funderburk's bond was set at $20,000.
