The Lafayette man accused of setting his family's home on fire earlier this morning is set to go to trail next month for a previous incident at the same house.
Fire officials have charged 24-year-old Justin Bartlett with aggravated arson in connection with this morning's incident in the 200 block of Elias G. Road. Bartlett is accused of setting the house ablaze following an argument with his father.
According to Lafayette Parish court documents, 24-year-old Justin Bartlett is scheduled to go on trial on January 21 for aggravated arson and domestic abuse battery in connection with a June 15, 2012, incident at the same home.
According to the bill of information filed in 2012, Bartlett set the same house on fire following an physical confrontation with is mother. Investigators of that incident said Bartlett poured gasoline around the exterior of the house before setting the fire. That blaze caused only minor damage to the home.
Bartlett remains in the Lafayette Parish Correction Center for this morning's alleged arson. No bond has been set.
