LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Lafayette police have arrested a 46-year-old Shreveport man in a July 2007 armed robbery of a couple at a Lafayette motel.
In a news release, Lafayette police say DNA evidence implicated Simco Wallace Cole in the July 17, 2007, armed robbery of a couple staying at the Red Roof Inn.
Police say Cole robbed the 60-year-old husband and his wife at knifepoint after following them to their room at the inn.
The Advocate reports DNA evidence was collected at the scene and the Acadiana Crime Lab returned a match. Cole, who already was incarcerated at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, now faces an armed robbery charge.
