Diocese of Lafayette's Ordination to the Priesthood

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will host the Diocese of Lafayette's Ordination to the Priesthood Mass on Saturday, June 8, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Bishop Michael Jarrell will ordain six men to serve as priests of the diocese. The Ordination Mass will air live on Acadiana Open Channel (AOC Ch. 2, Cox Ch. 16, and LUS Ch. 4).

Being ordained to the priesthood this Saturday are Rev. Mr. Dustin Patrick Dought, Rev. Mr. Brian Christopher Harrington, Rev. Mr. Andre Robert Metrejean, Rev. Mr. Mark Hugh Miley, Rev. Mr. Neil Cannes Pettit, and Rev. Mr. Garrett Brian Savoie.

 

Rev. Mr. Dustin Patrick Dought is the son of Mr. Davie Dought and Mrs. Patricia Dought. He is sponsored by St. Genevieve Parish in Lafayette and has completed his studies at Theological College of Washington, DC. He has been assigned to serve as Associate Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Eunice as well as Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Duralde. He will celebrate his first Mass at 6:00 p.m. on June 8 at St. Genevieve
Church in Lafayette, with concelebrants Fr. Brian Taylor and Msgr. Curtis Mallet, VG. Msgr. Mallet will also serve as homilist.

 

Rev. Mr. Brian Christopher Harrington is the son of Mr. Ben Harrington and Mrs. Aimee Harrington. He is sponsored by the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Lafayette and has completed his studies at Mount St. Mary's Seminary of Emmitsburg, MD. He has been assigned to serve as Associate Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Joseph Parishes in Ville Platte. He will celebrate his first Mass at 11:00 a.m. on June 9 at the Cathedral, with concelebrants Fr. Clinton Sensat, Fr. Lloyd Benoit, Fr. Chester Arceneaux, and Fr. Paschal
Mortino, OSB. Msgr. Keith DeRouen will serve as homilist.

 


Rev. Mr. Andre Robert Metrejean is the son of Mr. Todd Metrejean and Mrs. Margaret Metrejean. He is sponsored by Our Lady of Wisdom Parish in Lafayette and has completed his studies at Notre Dame Seminary of New Orleans. He has been assigned to serve as Associate Pastor of St. Peter Parish in Carencro. He will celebrate his first Mass at 11:00 a.m. on June 9 at Our Lady of Wisdom Church in Lafayette, with Fr. Bryce Sibley as the homilist.

 

Rev. Mr. Mark Hugh Miley is the son of Mr. M.H. Miley and Mrs. Inona Colton Miley. He is sponsored by Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in New Iberia and has completed his studies at Sacred Heart School of Theology of Hales Corners, WI. He has been assigned to serve as Associate Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Crowley. He will celebrate his first Mass at 11:00 a.m. on June 9 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in New Iberia, with Msgr. Richard
Greene, VE, as homilist.

 


Rev. Mr. Neil Cannes Pettit is the son of Mr. Michel Edward Pettit and Mrs. Scarlet E. Pettit. He is sponsored by St. Mary Mother of the Church Parish in Lafayette and has completed his studies at Mount St. Mary's Seminary of Emmitsburg, MD. He has been assigned as Associate Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Abbeville. He will celebrate his first Mass at 5:00 p.m. on June 9 at St. Mary Church in Lafayette, with concelebrants Fr. Harold Trahan, Fr.
Kevin Bordelon, and Fr. Blaine Clement. Father Josh Ridrigue of the Diocese of HoumaThibodaux
will serve as homilist.

 

Rev. Mr. Garrett Brian Savoie is the son of Mr. Brian Savoie and Mrs. Mary "Missie" Savoie. He is sponsored by Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Mire and has completed his studies at Notre Dame Seminary of New Orleans. He has been assigned to serve as Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Rayne. He will celebrate his first Mass at 3:00 p.m. on June 9 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Mire, with concelebrants Msgr.
Russell Harrington, Fr. Michael Arnaud, Fr. Kurt Young, and Fr. Andre Metrejean. Fr. Theodore Broussard will serve as homilist.
