Diocese closing Shreveport school after 83 years

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - After 83 years, Our Lady of Blessed
Sacrament Academy, a Catholic school in Shreveport, is getting
ready to close its doors May 27.
Shreveport Bishop Michael Duca said the diocese concluded the
school in the Allendale community must be closed for financial
reasons.
The school, which serves pre-K3 through kindergarten, has a
current enrollment of 153 students.
Sister Carol Shively, superintendent of schools for the diocese,
told The Shreveport Times last week that she is saddened by the
loss of Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Academy, but the cost to keep
the school open could not be supplemented through tuition or other
means.
