The Couret Farms Development off Pont Des Mouton has potential homeowners excited, like Kirk LaCour who works nearby but has a long commute to and from work every day.
"I'm usually on the road pretty early. So, an hour is what my commute normally ranges", says LaCour.
The neighborhood will connect LaCour to his job at the Acadian Ambulance facility. He says other employees are looking at houses in the same neighborhood. They're attracted to the rural nature of the project...living in the city but outside city congestion.
LaCour says, "You still have that ability to feel like you're in the country, that your feet can touch the grass. And just feel like you've gotten away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life."
Executive Director of the Upper Lafayette Development Foundation Jan Swift says residential development spurs business development.
Swift explains that, "The more growth we're experiencing with incoming residential, we're also seeing the new developments such as shopping, Target, the restaurants we were talking about. There's going to be an explosion of growth."
"It's really an exciting time for both Lafayette and Upper Lafayette because you'll see an explosion in population..and also innovation", says LaCour.
