The Desperado's Caberet trial has been continued until next year.
Federal judge Elizabeth Foote moved the trial of club owner Jim Panos and five other defendants to May 12.
In her order, Foote cited the complex nature of the case, the huge amount of evidence to review, and the number of defendants, saying "it would be unreasonable to expect adequate preparation for pretrial
proceedings, meaningful plea negotiations, and the trial itself within the time limits
Panos is charged with, among other offenses, maintaining a drug-involved premises and racketeering. The charges stem from a multi-agency raid of his Carencro strip club on December 5, 2012.
Two of his co-defendants, Dipak Vora and Jennifer Panos, will be tried on racketeering and drugs charges.
Three other defendants--Gerald Cormier, Acquila Latigue, and Heike Slattery--will be tried on drugs charges.
Four defendants in the case have already pleaded guilty to drugs charges. They will be sentenced on June 11.
