MANSFIELD, La. (AP) - Eleven men and women applied for the position of DeSoto Parish schools superintendent. Only three remain in the running for interviews.
The school board cut the field down in a meeting Thursday night.
Left in the running are interim DeSoto schools Superintendent Cade Brumley, of Stonewall; Tammye Turpin, of Calhoun, executive director of instruction and interim chief academic officer for the Monroe City School District; and Jon Whittemore, of Jasper, Texas, former Jasper ISD superintendent.
Board members will Interviews the remaining candidates next week. A meeting is set for Dec. 17 to make the final decision.
A superintendent vacancy was created on Nov. 2 with the unexpected retirement of Walter Lee.
