The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) is pleased to name Dequatta Ford of Soileau's Dinner Club in Opelousas as a recipient of the Restaurant Legends Award.
The Restaurant Legends Award recognizes the long-term dedication of employees who make up the backbone of the restaurant industry, with 20 or more years of service at one foodservice establishment.
Ford has been working for Soileau's since 1985 and is on the restaurant's kitchen staff. She was honored at a special ceremony at Soileau's yesterday afternoon.
"Dequatta is a tireless worker," said Beth Soileau, owner of Soileau's Dinner Club. "She works a 40-hour shift and would work 40 more if she could. She is a very hard worker, who is always efficient. Dequatta has never met a stranger. You can usually find her singing and dancing while she works."
"The LRA is thrilled to honor Dequatta Ford for her dedication to Soileau's Dinner Club. She has been an ambassador for the restaurant industry for 25 years and deserves every ounce of recognition," said LRA President & CEO Jim Funk. "This is further proof that careers in hospitality can be life-long and fulfilling."
