RESERVE, La. (AP) A district court judge has thrown out an indictment charging a Reserve family with murdering the man's 8-year-old stepson.
Judge Madeline Jasmine ruled that the indictment is invalid because a sheriff's deputy on the grand jury wore a T-shirt that the judge says advertised his employment.
But The Times-Picayune reports that it isn't clear whether all charges will be dropped or whether an earlier indictment by a different grand jury will replace the one quashed Wednesday.
It charged 44-year-old Errol Victor Sr., his wife, 35-year-old Tonya Victor, and their 26-year-old son, Erroll Victor Jr., with murdering M.L. Lloyd III.
The earlier indictment charged Victor and his wife with second-degree murder, and Erroll Victor Jr. as an accessory.
