Deputy city marshals arrest pair at Lafayette home

Deputy City Marshals made two arrests before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning in the 100 block of South Hamner Ave. in Lafayette, the Lafayette City Marshal's office announced.

On a regular warrant, deputies took Marcus Wayne Guidry into custody on a charge of simple battery. Guidry was booked on $750 bond. On a bench warrant, deputies apprehended Lillian Mouton on a charge of theft by check. Mouton allegedly failed to pay her $180 fine or serve an 18-day parish jail sentence. Mouton was issued no bond.

According to the marshal, Mouton's photograph had been shown on the Marshal's "Holding Accountable" program on Acadiana Open Channel (AOC) Channel 15 Monday night and a tip was called in with information on Mouton's whereabouts. Deputies followed up on the tip by knocking on the door of residence, announcing their presence for at least 20 minutes. When Guidry appeared at the front door, he told deputies that Mouton was present in the home. After checking for warrants on the other adult individuals in the household, deputies were alerted to an existing warrant on Guidry as well. The other individuals in the home had no warrants.

Both Mouton and Guidry were taken into custody and booked into the Lafayette Correctional Center. Mouton was found to have a medical issue and was allowed the pay the remainder of her fine and a contempt charge. She had previously made restitution on the check and therefore was released from custody.
