BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - An East Baton Rouge sheriff's deputy accused of forgery has been arrested.
Sheriff's office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks says 22-year-old Shanequa Lovely had called in sick to work on Friday.
Hicks says Lovely had excessive absences, so her supervisor asked her to provide a doctor's excuse when returning to work.
She says Lovely turned in an old excuse with altered dates. The supervisor contacted the doctor's office, which confirmed the forgery.
The Advocate reports Lovely was fired Tuesday and booked into Parish Prison on one count of forgery.
Lovely had worked for the sheriff's office since 2010 at Parish Prison.
