Deputies: "Very Primitive" Explosive Device Discovered

A New Iberia man is in jail after sheriff's deputies say he constructed a very primitive homemade explosive device. Officials blocked off an area near the corner of East Dale and Cherokee Streets this morning during their investigation. They say the bomb was found during an altercation between the unnamed suspect and a neighbor. Deputies would not say whether or not the device exploded, but they did say no one was injured. State troopers are assisting sheriff's deputies in the investigation.
