PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) - West Baton Rouge sheriff's deputies have recovered a body from the Mississippi River.
Sheriff Mike Cazes says that a tugboat captain called the sheriff's office around 5 p.m. Tuesday to report a body floating in the river.
Deputies say tugboat was able to secure the badly decomposed male's body to the vessel until deputies arrived.
Sheriff's Maj. Andy LeBlanc says deputies will contact surrounding parishes and agencies on Wednesday to try and match the body with any reports of missing persons.
