GREENSBURG, La. (AP) St. Helena Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested three men in connection with the slaying of a Greensburg man, who was found in a ditch Tuesday morning.
Criminal Chief Deputy Joe Chaney said Wednesday that a passing truck driver spotted the body of 41-year-old Roy Lee Patterson lying in a ditch in the Pine Grove area.
Chaney said deputies suspect Patterson had asked his neighbors for a ride to the store, and they allegedly beat him to death on the way back. He said deputies don't know if it was a robbery or a dispute over how much Patterson owed for the ride.
Deputies arrested 18-year-old Ledale Dunn, 23-year-old Peter Lee and a 17-year-old. All three were booked with second-degree murder.
Chaney said the investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
