Department of Defense Releases Cause of Soldier's Death

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The Department of Defense says a 20-year-old soldier from Lafayette was killed in Afghanistan on Sunday.

The DOD says Spc. Steven L. Dupont died of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device.

Dupont was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.
