deMahy pleads guilty to child porn

New Iberia advertising executive Philip deMahy pleaded guilty to 10 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles. According to State Police, deMahy's computer contained about 30 images of children in sexual acts. The state Attorney General's Office is handling the case, since deMahy ran District Attorney Phil Haney's reelection campaign.

According to Attorney General Buddy Caldwell, each count of possession of child pornography carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison. deMahy, was arrested on Nov. 5 last year after state and federal agents discovered a variety of child pornography on his computer. Sentencing is scheduled for April 4.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General David Weilbaecher, Jr.
