MILTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a 52-year-old
Milton man has been charged with threatening a person at a Milton church and other offenses.
Authorities say Hipolito Melendez was taken into custody Sunday afternoon. Police say they were called to the Lewes Church of Christ after receiving a 911 call about a man threatening to possess a gun.
State police say the incident happened after Melendez came into the church and was bumped by an autistic parishioner and then Melendez came into contact with the parishoner's 71-year-old guardian. Authorities say that during the incident he told the guardian that he had a gun before fleeing the church.
Authorities say Melendez was taken into custody. Police say Melendez also was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and other offenses.
