Delhi man killed in drag-racing related car crash

DELHI, La. (AP) - State police say a high-speed crash in Richland Parish killed a Delhi man who was apparently involved in a drag race on Saturday night.
Troopers say pickup had been racing another vehicle westbound on La. Highway 855 near Delhi when the driver lost control, running off the road and into the yard of a residence. The truck struck a tree stump and became airborne.
Investigators say 35-year-old James E. McDowell was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Richland Parish Coroner's Office.
