A 10-year-old Delcambre boy is in critical condition after he was struck by lightning on Gulf Shores beach Sunday morning. Family has identified him as Landon Broussard. According to Local 15 News in Alabama, Broussard is recovering at the University of South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday night.

Lifeguards told the television station there were approximately 20 people on the beach when weather took a turn for the worse.

"As soon as the lightning bolt hit, everyone hit the ground and took off running," life guard Justin Pearce told Local 15. "Then we saw a person laying by the edge of the water."

A family member started CPR on the boy until lifeguards took over.
