An investigation is underway into the death of 28-year old Jayvon Rakestrau.
He died after being tased in front of the Jackson Square Apartments in Duson around 11 o'clock Tuesday night.
His mother, Deborah Rakestrau said her son was rounding up friends to watch a movie at the home he shared with her, when the unthinkable happened.
"He left to go get the DVD, I'll give it 7 minutes, the boys knock at my door, saying 'Ms. Rakestrau they got him in the street,'" she says.
A friend and neighbor says, "he had no weapons, he had his hands up, I was looking at him, he asked them 'please don't tase me' twice and they tased him anyway."
Neighbors say about 15 Lafayette Sheriff's Department vehicles were patroling the area at the time and they do not know why.
Friends and family members say Jayvon died in minutes. An ambulance took him to the hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead.
Those close to jayvon say he was a peacemaker, not a fighter.
