Three men are behind bars after breaking into the Northside Veterinary Hospital in Eunice.
More alarming than the break-in is what deputies say the suspects may have left on the street.
Euthasol, a drug used for the humane euthanasia of animals.
Which the hospital has to keep legally in a confined securely locked area in this case a safe.
The hospitals veterinarian, Dr. Tim Deshotel says the drug is dangerous enough when used in a hospital setting, but if used or ingested by humans or animals it could prove to be deadly .
"If for some crazy reason it gets mixed with another drug, I mean lots of bad things can happen," says Dr. Deshotel.
Prompting the St. Landry parish department to issue this statement:
"We just want to get this dangerous drug back to where it belongs and off the streets before someone who doesn't know what it is tries to use it...it would be deadly to that person."
Dr. Tim Deshotel says if you or anyone you know wants to turn the drugs in you can do so to any veterinarian with no questions asked.
