A body is discovered today in St. Mary Parish just outside of Baldwin. Sheriff's investigators are working the case. Passers-by stopped off highway 90 and Penn Road Saturday morning, drawn to the site by flashing lights and badges.

Officials say the body was found by someone who was fishing. That person said the body was half way in the pond and halfway out. When they realized it was dead they called 911. Officials have not released an identity. They suspect it may be a missing man from Texas.

The man's vehicle was found near the pond two weeks ago. Officials say he has ties to Houma. Iberia Resident Dannie Pope said, "This is the third time that I'm hearing somebody was dumped around the sugar cane fields, or find bodies out here in a ditch, or a pond, or something, and it's becoming, well to us, regular.

As of right now the case is being treated as a homicide, and residents are left waiting for answers. The cause of death and the identification of the person is still unknown. St. Mary Parish Sheriff David Naquin says it could take the coroner several days to determine an identity.

Your article is good but the head line reads "Dead Body Found."  Aren't all bodies found dead?  Why say dead body; it's redundant don't you think?  William
