The man accused of murdering a Lake Charles pastor in front of his congregation is in jail this morning on a one million dollar bond.
Investigators say Woodrow Karey Junior has no known criminal history. He surrendered minutes after Pastor Ronald Harris Sr. was shot in front of 65 worshippers Friday night in The Tabernacle Praise Worship Center. Karey is charged with second degree murder. Relatives say he was once a member of the worship center, but left about four years ago.
This morning the daughter of the pastor murdered in front of his congregation speaks about how she'll remember her father.
"The first shoot he hit he hit a plant and I remember my daddy taking off running and he shot him in the back and he fell by our kids trying to run and he got over him again and kind of stood there I guess to watch him take his last breath," said Talisha Harris.
Talisha Harris daughter of Ronald J. Harris, Sr. who was shot to death during a church service says it was very chaotic and she couldn't believe what was happening.
"He was a strong person and whatever came his way he still stood on the word of God. He stood he never wavered or anything.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies are investigating possible motives in the murder in the meantime Harris says she will remember her fathers big heart the most.
"He was a great father, he was an awesome grandfather, he was an awesome preacher, teacher and any any situation he would make sure everybody laughed no matter what the situation is he always bought his humor in it," said Harris.
