BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne is traveling to New York City this week to promote the state's tourism efforts.
Dardenne's office says he will be in the city Monday and Tuesday. Among his meetings, he'll be doing a series of media interviews, hoping to get coverage for Louisiana's travel opportunities. He'll also be participating in a reception to
promote Louisiana food.
Tourism is a $9 billion industry in Louisiana. Dardenne says the
state's image has taken a hit since the Gulf oil spill, and he's
trying to discuss the safety of Louisiana's seafood and the
activities available to tourists around the state.
A similar trip was canceled in January because of weather
conditions.
