Dad charged with cruelty to child

RICHWOOD, La. (AP) - Richwood police arrested a 21-year-old man on a cruelty to a juvenile charge.
21-year-old Pierre Sledge, of Richwood, was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center on Monday.
An arrest affidavit stated police were called to the emergency room of St. Francis Medical Center in reference to an injured juvenile.
When police arrived, they spoke to the child's mother, who said she picked up the child around 5:30 p.m. from the father's home. The mother said several family members noticed the child's face was swollen.
The mother told police Sledge later admitted the child fell off a bed.
Sledge's bond is set at $5,000.
It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
