LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - District Attorney Mike Harson says he plans to let a grand jury decide whether charges should be filed against New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith.
Smith was arrested in Lafayette on Nov. 27 and booked on misdemeanor counts of domestic abuse and simple battery.
Police say Smith and his wife, Racquel, got into an argument just after leaving a nightclub.
Investigators say officers on patrol saw the argument escalate
and then saw Smith grab the woman's hair.
Harson says that Racquel Smith and other witnesses
have since come forward claiming to have information that they feel
would be helpful to Will Smith.
Harson says a grand jury could be convened later this month or
early next month.
