No charges will be filed against Major Glen Dartez. He retired from the Lafayette Police Department last month after 34 years.

Dartez left following an investigation involving a murder that happened June 11th. He was off-duty, but in the neighborhood, the night Montie Martie was killed by her boyfriend. Dartez was approached by the suspect that night. He was accused of not helping, while Martie was allegedly in medical distress.

D.A. Mike Harson said there was no legal basis for the filing of a malfeasance charge. Harson said that although rendering aid would have been the proper thing to do, not helping was not illegal.
