Cyberbullying Bill Proposed in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Harassing or intimidating someone by

text message, e-mail or posts on social networking sites like

Facebook would be deemed "cyberbullying" and would be a crime

under a bill proposed by a Shreveport lawmaker.

The House Criminal Justice Committee is scheduled to debate the

measure by Rep. Roy Burrell on Tuesday.

The bill comes as a bullying case in Massachusetts has received

national attention. Six high school students are charged with

bullying a 15-year-old girl who eventually killed herself.

Prosecutors say the girl endured months of threats, including on

Facebook and through other electronic forms.
