A Crowley High school educator has been arrested on warrant for prohibited sexual conduct via telecommunications between an educator and student. The student is an 18-year-old female, according to Acadia Parish spokesperson Maxine Trahan. Deputies in Acadia Parish say 48-year-old Bryant Keith Ortego turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday afternoon. Ortego was booked into the parish jail with bond set at $25,000 by District Judge John Trahan.
Ortego is also a former American football wide receiver for the Chicago Bears. He was also a member of the 1985 team that won Super Bowl XX.
Ortego resigned from the Acadia Parish School Board on Monday. He was a Special Education teacher and a football coach at Crowley High.
