Crowley police make drug arrest

Crowley Police arrested a 23-year-old man and charged him with various drug charges. Crowley Police Special Response Team served a search warrant just before midnight Tuesday in the 800 block of North Avenue E. and arrested Akeem Ross.

Narcotics agents found crack cocaine, marijuana, Alprazolam and stolen firearm, according to Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson.

"Our personnel did an outstanding job in this matter. We have been working the suspect in this case for some time. Each time we would get close to arresting him he would flee, evading arrest by our officers. However, last night he had nowhere to go as SRT secured the residence quickly and without incident," Gibson said.

Ross is charged with possession with intent to distribute PWITD Crack Cocaine, possession with intent to distribute Marijuana, possession with intent to distribute Alprazolam, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Monies Derived from Drug Proceeds. Police served other warrants Ross had been running from, Gibson said. He says Ross has been arrested six other times on drug charges.
