Members of the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office and the Crowley Police Department make an arrest in numerous home invasions and burglaries that happened during the past several days.
The first incident occurred early Thursday October 7, in the 1300 block of East Elm Street in Crowley. Police discovered that a white male subject forced his way into the residence through a rear door. Once inside, the suspect armed himself and removed property from the residence while the victim was present. The homeowner was not harmed.
On Sunday evening October 10, the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office investigated 5 burglaries in the southeast area of the parish. During these burglaries, the suspect entered either the residence or attached living areas and committed the burglaries while residents were home. During one of the burglaries, the suspect was confronted by the resident and fled the scene.
Investigators arrested Austin Jones of Crowley. He's booked into the Acadia Parish Jail with 2 Counts of Burglary, 1 Count of Attempted Burglary and 1 count of Possession of Stolen property. Jones' bond has been set at $270,000.00
Both the Acadia parish Sheriff's Office and the Crowley Police Department are continuing their investigations into this crime spree to confirm if other suspects were involved and to confirm the additional burglaries involving Jones.
