The battle over what's in Crowley's water system is brewing once again. For the past two years, the city has added fluoride to the water, after the council approved the measure. Now, fluoridation is mandated by the state. But, some residents are not happy with the additional chemical in their water. They've started a petition in hopes of changing the law, at least in Crowley.
"The biggest concern is that, like anything, fluoride in the wrong dosage can cause problems," said Crowley Mayor, Greg Jones.
Mayor Jones says he and other city councilmen have received numerous complaints from residents, who are concerned about the potential health risk fluoride may have. Councilman Elliot Dore says some residents simply don't want the government to force them to have the additional fluoride in their water.
So, Tuesday night they city council voted to allow Mayor Jones to send a letter to LAWCO, the company that processes the fluoride into the water. The letter is a request by Crowley to temporarily stop the fluoridation, until further research can be done and residents can get answers to ease their concerns.
"The letter's not going to stop the fluoridation, and we don't even know if LAWCO can do it... It's a state mandated process," saud Councilman Dore.
Because fluoridation is Louisiana law, officials say residents may not be able to stop the process until next spring, if at all.
Dr. John Taylor, a Crowley dentist, hopes that in the meantime, residents can learn the benefits of fluoridation. Taylor also serves on the Governor's Fluoridation Advisory Board, which encourages communities to add fluoride to their water system.
"I think there's a campaign of misinformation. I think fluoridation is an emotional issue, some people don't grasp the concept," said Taylor.
Taylor says, over the past 60 years, studies have shown that cities with fluoridation are %40-%60 less likely to have tooth decay.
"Fluoride can benefit all groups, all age groups all economic groups, it's a win, win."

"At the end of the Second World War, the United States Government sent Charles Eliot Perkins, a research worker in chemistry, biochemistry, physiology and pathology, to take charge of the vast Farben chemical plants in Germany.
"While there he was told by German chemists of a scheme which had been worked out by them during the war and adopted by the German General Staff.
"This was to control the population in any given area through mass medication of drinking water. In this scheme, sodium fluoride occupied a prominent place.
"Repeated doses of infinitesimal amounts of fluoride will in time reduce an individual's power to resist domination by slowly poisoning and narcotizing a certain area of the brain and will thus make him submissive to the will of those who wish to govern him. "Both the Germans and the Russians added sodium fluoride to the drinking water of prisoners of war to make them stupid and docile."

Europe (16 countries) has rejected fluoridation and is now 98% fluoride free, and the WHO reports that their decay rate is better than any fluoridated country. They and most of the world caught on to this fluoridation hoax years ago.
Adding fluoride to drinking water is an absolute waste of money. People only drink 1/2 % of the water they use. The remaining 99 1/2% simply goes down the drain. If you doubt this, just ask your water department I guess we expect government programs to be inefficient and wasteful, but this sets a new low in waste of taxpayers money. Giving away fluoride tablets free to whoever wants them would be much cheaper.
When the fertilitzer companies, and others, clean their smokestacks, they bag the toxic waste fluoride chemical, ( Hydrofluorosilicic Acid), which contains lead, mercury, arsenic, radium etc. and sell it to communities to add to our water systems. The Government tries to convince us that it does not harm us if it is diluted enough, but hundreds of research studies prove otherwise.
Those promoting fluoridation simply refuse to read the current research showing it is ineffective and dangerous to health. Go to (www.fluoridealert.org) and read several scientific articles.

Fluoridation 101
Impure, untested and non-required fluoride chemicals are legislated into most U.S. water supplies, not to kill nasty microbes, but to medicate tap water drinkers who are assured water fluoridation is a safe and effective way to prevent tooth decay. But it is neither.
Water fluoridation is an old-fashioned concept and , shockingly, is not supported by valid science.
Dentists mistakenly believed swallowed fluoride created decay resistant teeth by becoming part of children's developing enamel; but they were wrong. Fluoride's beneficial effects, if any, are topical according to the CDC and the American Dental Association.
Public health officials predicted fluoride would eradicate tooth decay like vaccines prevent disease; but they were wrong about that, too. They said fluoride was a necessary nutrient and, like vitamin C prevents scurvy, fluoride would prevent tooth decay - wrong again.
The US Surgeon General reports tooth decay is at epidemic proportions among our poor and minority populations, many of whom live in fluoridated communities
New York State Department of Health dentist J. V. Kumar published national statistics in the July 2009 JADA which show similar cavity rates regardless of water fluoride content, However, dental fluorosis rates increased along with water fluoride levels. Glasgow Scotland had the worst teeth in Western Europe but has turned that around. They focused on seeing almost every kid had a dentist and saw then every six months. Just as importantly they gave classes on importance of tooth brushing and actually had it done in nursery and school. They also made sure that parents understood sugar drinks milk included should not be given in nap bottles or sippy cups as it destroys milk teeth to rotten nubs quickly.
Without fluoridation things turned around with half the kids having no cavities now. They expect to improve more. Better nutrition would do even more.
Detroit Michigan study in 2007 Burt showed almost 100% had cavities by age 5 and had untreated cavities by age 14 was at 83%. Decades of fluoridation and cavities increased by 12% in most poor inner cities with almost every one fluoridated.Burt said the real problem was poor nutrition with F water, soda and chips the typical food choices. Almost no vegetables or fruits which are needed. Also most dentists refuse to treat the poor and many poor kids have never seen a dentist. This is more common for blacks and latinos then whites even when on all are on medicaid.
I just read a article saying in 37 states now doctors are providing dental preventative care like sealants and far fewer kids end up a dental disaster in the emergency room. This is needed as so few dentists treat poor kids. The ADA works hard to push fluoridation ignoring the harm caused with no real proof of ingested benefit in real science. This evil policy has shot dental incomes sky high with all the fluoride toxic enamel damage being a gold mine in cosmetic work. The really evil twist is blacks are damaged the worst but only the rich acan afford the very expensive repairs. The CDC in 2007 even after formal ethics charges still refused to inform double damaged blacks of kidney and dental fluorosis risks they cause by by promotion of mandatory fluoridation. The poor are the least able to avoid f water in infant formula like the CDC and ADA warned in 2006. Problem is they forgot to tell the public and 47 state health departments refuse to mention the very real risk.
This is the stuff lawsuits are made of.

Read real science not ADA fairy tails where they are the good price. They are the toads in the real story of not letting the poor sit in their chair. Check out which dentists actually treat medicaid kids in your city. Rarely do they. Lets talk about that. Please have dentists respond or the ADA. We are all ears.

The 40-60% dental-health imporvement that Dr Taylor (dentist) attributes to fluoridation does not exist as is revealed in the following.
Brunelle & Carlos (1990) reported an 18&% dental health improvement as a result of a study of at least 39,000 US children aged 5-17 years. (This number of children was extrapolated to represent more than 43 million US children).
The 18% improvement represented only 0.6 of one tooth surface out of 128 tooth surfaces in a child's mouth.
Fluoride actually delays tooth eruption.
Had delayed tooth eruption from fluoride been taken into account, it is likely that Brunelle & Carols could have reported a dis-benefit from fluoridation.
Please listen to the discussion between Drs Mercola and Connett as to why we need to end fluoridation soon http://www.bing.com/search?q=mercola+connett+interview+fluoridation&src=IE-SearchBox&FORM=IE8SRC
The video is titled 'Warning: this daily habit is damaging your bones, brain, kidneys and teeth'.
Please visit www.FluorideAction.net and view 1) the Professionals' statement calling for an end to fluoridation; 2) the 3 lists (US A-M; US N-Z; Internationl) of signatories to 'The Statement'; 3) the site where names and details can be added by those who are illegible to sign; and 4) browse through this website and note the huge volume of referenced fluoride information that is available free to all.
Readers are urged to Google 'Ministry of not so funny walks' to note that approximately 60 million people in India lead painful and crippled lives because of the natural fluoride in their water supplies. (Fluoride coupled with poor nutrition is more harmful than fluoride coupled with an adequate nutrition.)
FACT: Iodine-deficient humans can have 'thyroid effects' from 4-5 times less fluoride than iodine-adequate humans (NHC 2006).
