A suspect is arrested and 151 pounds of seafood recovered. St. Landry Parish Deputies arrested 32 year old Joseph Chachere for allegedly stealing $3,000 worth of crawfish from Cajun Pride Processors.
The store in Lewisburg has only been open for a few weeks and owner, Jay Guidry just recently hired Chachere. Guidry says an anonymous tip led authorities to the suspect. Although only about 49 pounds of the stolen crawfish was sold, Guidry says he can't sell what was recovered, because he doesn't know if it was stored properly.
Meantime, Chachere was fired, arrested and charged with simple burglary, theft of crawfish and felony theft.
