Crash kills Ville Platte teen

BAYOU CHICOT, La. (AP) - A one-car accident on La. Highway 106 has claimed the life of a Ville Platte teen.
State police say 17-year-old Jeannine Shafer was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4 a.m. Sunday accident on La. 106 just east of its intersection with U.S. Highway 167.
Trooper James Franks says Shafer was eastbound when her car traveled across the center line and left the highway to the left. Franks said the car then entered the roadside ditch, struck the embankment and overturned several times.
He said the driver, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.
