Crash kills 1 in Union Parish

MARION, La. (AP) - State police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash in Union Parish.
The accident happened Thursday morning on La. Highway 33 south of Marion.
Troopers say an SUV being driven by 43-year-old William Gilbert of Marion was southbound when it left the roadway, struck a culvert and traveled about 65 feet before coming to rest on the driver side.
Troopers say Gilbert was wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner's Office.
A 5-year-old passenger was not injured.
