On March 17, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a Vinton convenience store in reference to a report of a vehicle theft.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who advised she left her SUV running and unlocked in the store parking lot while she went inside to make a purchase. When the victim exited the store, she found her SUV was missing.
During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance video from the store which captured a man, who detectives later identified as Lucas J. Vincent, 33, 1541 W. Burton Street, Sulphur. Detectives say Vincent walked out of the store as the victim entered, and enter the victims SUV and drive off.
Several hours later, Vincent turned himself into the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Center in Sulphur. When questioned by detectives, Vincent confirmed he stole the SUV and advised detectives he had left it parked at a Sulphur business.
Vincent was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft of a motor vehicle. His bond is still pending.
The stolen SUV was recovered by detectives and returned to the victim.
