This morning around 10:00, twenty Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were deployed to Plaquemines Parish on a law enforcement mission. Sheriff Mancuso spoke to Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Lonnie Greco early this morning who said their parish was devastated by Hurricane Isaac and they needed assistance.
The CPSO deputies will be there for six days, then a reassessment will be made to determine if a second team will be deployed to take their place in Plaquemines Parish or another parish that may have needs related to the destruction caused by Hurricane Isaac.
"When we needed help in Calcasieu after Hurricane Rita, all we had to do was make a phone call and other law enforcement agencies came to our aid," says Sheriff Tony Mancuso. "We are happy to return the favor. That's what we do in Louisiana - we help each other out."
Sheriff Mancuso says, "The level of service we provide to the people of Calcasieu Parish will not suffer because of this deployment. We will still have the same number of deputies patrolling our streets, keeping our citizens safe."
