CPSO arrests man for possession of stolen property

LAKE CHARLES, La. - A 32-year-old Lake Charles man has been arrested for burglarizing and stealing guns from a residence in Lake Charles.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Kim Myers says on Thursday deputies were dispatched to a home on Duke Road in Lake Charles in reference to a burglary.

Authorities say the victim returned home and discovered his home had been burglarized and four firearms were stolen from a gun cabinet. CPSO deputies entered all information on the stolen firearms, including the serial numbers, into NCIC database.

CPSO deputies received information on Friday regarding the stolen firearms possibly located at another home on Duke Road in Lake Charles according to authorities.

Deputies were dispatched to the home and found four firearms wrapped in a blanket on the ground next to a truck belonging Jeremy C. Abney.

Deputies say the four firearms serial numbers were ran through NCIC and verified the guns were reported stolen from a home on Duke Road on April 4.

Abney was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession of stolen things over $1,500 and released on a $1,500 bond set by Judge Wilford Carter.
